To: Mr Rahman (Registrar) and team in Directorate of Trauma and Orthopaedics.
Thank you for my excellent knee surgery performed on the 27th May 2009 at the Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust.
Special thanks to the anaesthetist and his small team with apologies for not remembering names.
Last but not least, Thank you to Ward 15 for getting me from operating table to discharge in just 52 hours.
My knee is mending so well I can already kick the cat again!
Kind regards,
Grateful Patient
Having just spent seven days in your care at Solihull Hospital, I feel that I must write to thank and congratulate you for the excellent treatment that I received.
From the moment that I entered hospital I was shown the uttermost care and respect by all of your staff. From Dermatology, to Wards 20 and 16, through to discharge, I felt that I was in the hands of a very professional and caring team.
I must also mention that your strenuous efforts to clean and prevent infection were very reassuring.
S.N, Solihull
After the marvellous treatment I received in Solihull Hospital I have recently been an inpatient on Ward 6, Heartlands. I would like to express my thanks to the staff for their marvellous attitude to patient care, they went that extra mile to make me comfortable.
I would also like to thank Dr Pitt and his team, I was very nervous and he and his team put my mind at rest both before and during the procedure.
I was very impressed with Matron Sharon Cunningham’s dedication to making sure everything was in first class condition.
So once again a very big ‘thank you’ to all staff concerned.
G.R, Solihull
I wanted to write to you on behalf of myself and my family to thank you and all the staff on Ward 30 for all the help and kindness shown to my Mom.
The caring and compassionate way in which the nursing staff, without exception, helped Mom throughout her illness and recovery was outstanding. The standards of nursing coupled with the respect and empathy shown to all patients are an example to everyone of what is best in the NHS and at Heartlands.
Many thanks,
W.W
Dear Dr. Wears
Many thanks for your expert attention and your professional courtesy. I would like to express thanks to your clinic staff for their sympathetic and caring approach to what could be an uncomfortable situation.
Every best wish in this New Year.

Dear Dr Heagerty
I would like to say how impressed I was with the reception in your clinic in Solihull Hospital – it was immediately welcoming, consistently friendly and yet very efficient. This was all due to your receptionist Danu. Most patients awaiting treatment were sat smiling, not looking worried or fed-up. I believe Danu makes a real difference to how patients feel and that this directly impacts on confidence as well as the overall experience. Thank you.
K.T, Solihull
I am writing to express my sincere thanks to all the members of staff who helped me during my stay. I was greatly impressed by the professionalism, kindness and dedication shown to me in A&E and on Ward 20, Heartlands Hospital by all staff that I encountered. I found the hospital to be spotlessly clean and very comfortable and I was also impressed by the quality and variety of food offered. My thanks to all those concerned.
N.C, Hall Green
I just thought I would drop you a line to thank you most sincerely for your kindness, care and treatment during my recent stay on Ward 20, zone 3, Heartlands. Obviously no one likes hospitals or enjoys being in one, and with the current stigma and political climate, even more so! However, I must say that if you can choose to be ill and need hospital treatment, Ward 20 is the place you would hope for. The staff are so polite and friendly, and nothing is too much effort! And as for the cleanliness… excellent! The food was hot and not slopped about. Thank you so much to everyone.
S.E, Small Heath
To Ward 12, Heartlands, I would like to thank you for all your kindness and consideration, from the time you arranged for a prompt scan and early admission right through to your telephoning me at home to give me the all-clear. Finally I would mention how helpful I found the patient information leaflets (which dealt with all my questions plus some I hadn’t thought of) and the friendly support of the Ruth Astles team Nurses.Thank you again.
L.R, Solihull
I attended your Dermatology department and found the whole experience very pleasant. All the staff from the receptionist through to the nurses and the consultants, most notable Dr Zaki, were all very cheerful and upbeat. The staff are to be congratulated on the overall experience they imparted. I would like to pass on my thanks to all of them.
M.H, Gloucester
I was a recent patient on Ward 22 and I would like to express my thanks for the wonderful treatment I received when there. The staff from the sister to Dr Swain, everyone on the ward treated me with respect, which as you know is very important to an elderly person. I can say I have no complaints to make only my thanks to the staff on Ward 22.
K.C, Birmingham
To all the staff of the Day Surgery Unit, Heartlands.
Thank you all for the splendid treatment I received yesterday when I came in for a minor operation on my nose. From start to finish everyone was cheerful, kind and highly professional, and everything was done to make the experience as comfortable as possible. I noticed the Mission Statement in the waiting area as I left and can only say that you are fulfilling your mission in an exemplary style. You should be proud of your achievements. Thank you all again.
G.M.K, Solihull
I would like to say a big thank you to all the staff at HDU7 at Heartlands for the care they took of my step father during his short stay. The staff were also very kind to my mother during the last day which she spent at the hospital with him. She is 92 and they treated her with care for which I am grateful.
Again, my thanks to them all, V.P
May I express my appreciation to Dr Smith and his fellow doctors for your care and kindness to me during my recent stay in Ward 3 at Heartlands. My thanks are also due to the nursing, health care and household staff on Ward 3 who’s care, consideration and good humour gave me so much encouragement.
My sincere thanks, I am feeling much better and am very grateful to you all.
With my best wishes,
A.L, Solihull
I would like to say thank you for the attention I received at Solihull Hospital. Dr Chakravarti and the team on Ward 14 were wonderful. I could not have received better treatment anywhere else.
E.T, Solihull
I would like to thank Dr Constantine and all the nurses and staff on Ward 2 at Good Hope who helped to care for me after my operation. You were all very kind & friendly which helped me while I was recovering.

I must write a letter of thanks. I was amazed at the nurses and staff of Ward 2 in Fothergill Block. They answered our every need, day and night without a word of complaint.
Please convey my sincere thanks to these ‘Angels of Mercy’, who made my short stay a happy and very enlightening one.

In our hearts we have nothing but praise for Good Hope Ward 9. You are all dedicated professionals with hearts of gold, with time not only for your patients but also for their families. Thank you again for making such a sad time more bearable.
P.S
On behalf of our family, can we please write to tell you how wonderful all of your ward staff are at Good Hope. Last Saturday, our mother was admitted to A&E, and thence to EAU following a huge CVA. Without exception, all who came into contact with her went above and beyond mere professionalism in terms of their kindness and care. Furthermore, this applied not just for my mum, but also the entire family who were visiting. Mum could not have been better looked after anywhere. We cannot speak too highly of all the wonderful people who looked after her.

As part of the Bowel Screening Programme, an appointment was made for me to see Karen Mallows at Good Hope hospital. The colonoscopy followed which revealed three polyps, one of which was cancerous. A CT scan showed that the removal of the polyps was a success, and no cancer was found anywhere else. Thanks for a great opportunity for me to get sorted out, and I am especially grateful to Karen Mallows for all her kindness and great after care.

Once again, after my four monthly visit to the Women’s Clinic at Good Hope Hospital. I am full of praise for Mr Constantine, Dr Patodi and all the team. Everyone is so helpful, kind and efficient; it never varies and is very much appreciated.”

On the 27th June, I was a patient of Dr ElGendi at Good Hope Hospital. A very considerate man who made me feel so at ease. As a result, I was admitted to Good Hope on 2nd July, to be prepared for a transfer to the QE, for bypass and valve replacement.
My stay on the CCU Ward at Good Hope was a very pleasant experience. The staff, doctors and nurses were absolutely brilliant - nothing was never too much trouble for them. Iwould also like to add how the food has improved since I was last in the same ward, in 2004.
We hear so many bad reports of our NHS but I feel that I have to express my feelings and may the staff on CCU continue to offer such wonderful care and detail to duty, which I very much appreciated.

I was an inpatient at GHH on Ward 2 from 22nd to 28th May, and I would like to express my thanks to all concerned with my stay…All the staff, whatever their status were attentive, efficient, and caring as well as being bright and cheerful. I could not have wished for better care.
