In order to promote equal opportunities, it is important that all staff receive equality and diversity training. The training will help staff meet their career and persoal development requirements, as well as improve behavoural and communication issues with patients, colleagues and general public.

Equality Impact Assessment [EIA]
Which will involve the following:-
- discovering whether you really need a policy [Lean Thinking]
- interactive practical scenarios with small multi-disciplinary teams of staff
- excellent opportunities for networking; involving “sweets and cakes”
- a certificate, so you’ve got evidence for KSF/PDPs
- an opportunity to join a supportive staff Network for EIA
- an opportunity to give feedback on the training sessions
The session also meets your departmental needs in relation to Standards for Better Health, Essence of Care etc.

Human Rights - Professional Decision making and Accountability
The Equality and Diversity Department are pleased to announce that the Trust is staging training sessions on the above. Neslyn Watson-Druée, MBE, Director of Beacon Organisation and Development will be delivering these sessions. The training will be free for all Trust staff. This training will provide your staff with a better understanding of Human Rights and it’s impact on patient care.
This training will contribute towards staff’s evidence of completing KSF core Dimension in Equality and Diversity”. An attendance certificate will be provided to all delegates.
Disability Equality Training
The Trust’s Equality and Diversity Department in partnership with the Council of Disabled People Warwickshire & Coventry is hosting disability equality sessions for all staff Trust wide. The sessions will address issues such as:
- Understanding Disability and Impairment
- Disability Etiquette
- Sensitive Use of Language
- Making Reasonable Adjustments in service and policies
Certificate of attendance will contribute to the “Diversity” core dimension of the KSF.
DEAF / DEAFBLIND COMMUNICATION AWARENESS
In partnership with Darren Waldron BA MA PGDE, Deafeating Barriers Limited, we will be delivering these sessions; which will help to develop an understanding of Deaf and Hard of Hearing people’s problems. The course covers subjects; such as:- differences between Deaf/Deafblind/Hard of Hearing; tactics in communication; British Sign Language; basics of hearing aids; equipments.
Certificate of attendance will contribute to the “Diversity” core dimension of the KSF.
LEARNING DISABILITIES AWARENESS TRAINING
The Equality and Diversity Department is leading on the agenda/support for patients with a Learning Disability [LD]. In partnership with the LD Health Facilitation Nurses; the LD sessions address issues such as:- how and when to contact the nurses; advice on how to care for LD patients; accessing the LD Toolkit; completion of essential forms e.g. IMCA.
Certificate of attendance will contribute to the “Diversity” core dimension of the KSF.
Ethnicity Monitoring Training
A “Training Needs Analysis” will be undertaken to ascertain staff’s needs in various departments. These programmes will include sessions on:
